The story of Gabbi Tuft’s journey to finding strength after coming out as transgender
For Gabbi, the physical aspect of her transition was just a small part of the journey. Embracing and loving herself for who she truly was on the inside was the bigger challenge.
Prior to her facial surgery, Gabbi had to discontinue Botox treatments and allow any facial fillers to dissolve in order for the surgeon to accurately assess her features. Following the surgery, she would also have to refrain from wearing wigs or hairpieces for three months.
Reflecting on this period, Gabbi realized she had three months to come to terms with herself. She asked herself, “If for any reason the surgery didn’t happen, could I still live happily like this?” Her resounding answer was yes. She expressed, “Regardless of my appearance, I love myself. I’m a valuable person, cherished by my family and friends, making a positive impact wherever I go. My appearance doesn’t define me.” Embracing her natural self, without makeup or artificial hair, Gabbi gradually grew comfortable in her own skin.
