Penn Badgley recently shared a humorous story about a prank played on him by his co-star and then-girlfriend Blake Lively—one that involved him briefly believing that Steven Tyler was his biological father.
“I received an email saying, ‘Someone thinks Steven Tyler is your dad,'” Penn recounted on the May 23 episode of his Podcrushed podcast. “I didn’t entertain the thought because who would believe such a thing?”
Despite his skepticism, Penn’s publicist kept him updated as the rumor persisted, eventually indicating that even the Aerosmith frontman himself seemed to think it could be true.
“I never believed it,” Penn admitted. “But I couldn’t understand why Steven Tyler would entertain such a notion. It seemed absurd that a rock legend like him would think I was his child.”
Upon Blake’s suggestion, Penn decided to confirm the truth with his mother, putting an end to the hilarious prank.
