Appearances of Beyoncé & Jay-Z’s daughter Rumi in Cowboy Carter
There’s another addition to the Carter family’s accomplishments.
In a notable development, Beyoncé included her daughter Rumi Carter, aged 6, in her recent country album Cowboy Carter. This comes ten years after her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, was featured in the song “Blue.”
The song “Protector,” which is the fourth track on the album, starts with Rumi asking, “Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?” The song then delves into an acoustic ballad that reflects Beyoncé’s deep affection for her children—Blue Ivy, aged 12, and twins Rumi and Sir Carter, aged 6—whom she shares with Jay-Z.
In the chorus, Beyoncé sings, “I will lead you down that road if you lose your way, Born to be a protector, Even though I know someday you’re gonna shine on your own, I will be your projector.”
The heartfelt song goes on to express Beyoncé’s pride in her role as a mother. “An apricot picked right off a given tree,” the Grammy winner sings. “I gave water to the soil, And now it feeds me, And there you are, shaded underneath it all.”
