Georgie Campbell, Horse Riding Star, tragically passes away at 37 after a fall at an event
The equestrian sporting community is grieving the loss of one of its own.
Georgie Campbell tragically passed away after a fall from her horse during a competition at the Bicton International Horse Trials in southwest England on May 26. She was 37 years old.
“Medical professionals responded immediately after her fall at fence 5b, but unfortunately, she could not be saved,” said British Eventing, the sport’s national governing body in the UK, in a statement released on the same day. “The horse, Global Quest, was evaluated by the on-site veterinarians and safely returned to the stable with no injuries.”
In order to respect the privacy of the family during this difficult and sad time, British Eventing stated, “No further details will be disclosed.”
Georgie was a highly accomplished rider, participating in over 200 events as reported by BBC. Her husband, Jessie Campbell, is also an event rider who represented New Zealand at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The couple joined forces to establish Team Campbell Eventing, showcasing their riding career on a shared Instagram account with videos, photos, and updates from various competitions.
