Himani Shivpuri reveals why she missed out on starring with Shah Rukh Khan in Kal Ho Naa Ho due to Karan Johar’s demand – details inside
Himani Shivpuri has appeared in various popular Hindi cinema movies, bringing her own unique touch to masala entertainers. Her roles like Rifat Bi in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kammo Kaur in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Mrs. Rawat in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham have been memorable. Recently, Himani Shivpuri shared about missing out on a role in Kal Ho Naa Ho with Shah Rukh Khan, as she had requested Karan Johar for more substantial roles.
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kanan on YouTube, Himani Shivpuri discussed her experience working with Karan Johar in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and revealed that she did not receive any offers from Dharma Productions after that film.
While filming K3G, Himani Shivpuri had asked Karan Johar to consider her for a meaty role in his future projects. She expressed her desire for more substantial roles after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, but Karan Johar had considered her a lucky charm for the film. Later, Nikkhil Advani approached her for Kal Ho Naa Ho, but she was told that there was no role for her in the movie.
Feeling puzzled by the lack of opportunities, Himani Shivpuri approached Karan Johar at an award show to inquire about not being contacted for the role in Kal Ho Naa Ho. Karan clarified that the role was not suitable for her and assured her that he would reach out if there was a meaty role for her.
Reflecting on the situation, Himani Shivpuri realized that her request for substantial roles may have offended Karan Johar. Kal Ho Naa Ho featured Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Sushma Seth, and Reema Lagoo.
