HBO Ensures ‘Inclusive and Diverse’ Casting for Harry, Ron, and Hermione in New Harry Potter Series: Find Out More Here
HBO is set to launch a revamped version of the Harry Potter series with a more diverse cast, as reported by Variety. They have released a poster calling for young actors and actresses to audition for the roles of Harry, Hermione, Ron, and others. The studio is specifically looking for children aged 9 to 11 to play the young wizards.
The notice states that only children aged 9-11 in April 2025, who are residents of the U.K. or Ireland, will be considered. The studio is encouraging actors of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities to audition, emphasizing their commitment to inclusive and diverse casting.
Applicants are required to submit a 30-second video of themselves reciting a poem or short story in their own accent, unrelated to Harry Potter. Additionally, they must record a one-minute video introducing themselves, including their date of birth, height, location, and a description of a family member, pet, or friend they are close to.
The rebooted series will be based on J.K. Rowling’s books, which were first adapted into films in 2001. The announcement of the new series was made in April 2023, with HBO and Max CEO and chairman Casey Bloys confirming the news in a statement. Bloys expressed excitement about delving deeper into the beloved Wizarding World created by Rowling, in partnership with Warner Bros. Television.
