New Sexual Assault Charges Brought Against Harvey Weinstein
According to a Manhattan DA spokesperson who spoke to NBC News at the time, they stated, “We will do everything in our power to retry this case, and remain steadfast in our commitment to survivors of sexual assault.”
Aside from being sentenced to 20 years in prison with five years of post-release supervision for criminal sexual act in the first degree, Weinstein also received a three-year prison term with five years of post-release supervision for rape in the third degree, as reported by NBC News. Additionally, it was mandated that he serve these sentences consecutively.
Fast forward to February 2023, Weinstein was given a 16-year prison sentence by a Los Angeles jury for one count of forcible rape and two counts of sexual assault.
