Alia Bhatt Confesses Admiration for Durgesh Kumar’s Dancing Skills on His Birthday as Panchayat Actor
Durgesh Kumar gained popularity for his role as Bhushan, also known as Banrakas, in the beloved series Panchayat. The actor, who is a favorite among social media meme creators, is celebrating his birthday today on October 21. On this special day, let’s revisit the time when he shared that Alia Bhatt became a fan of his dancing skills on the sets of Imtiaz Ali’s Highway.
In an interview with Spotlight Magazine, Durgesh Kumar shared his experience of working with Alia Bhatt in Highway. He mentioned that when he first met her, she seemed like a “chirpy little girl” rather than a diva, as he had expected. He described working with the actress as a great experience.
The actor explained that his character in the film had to understand the dynamic between Randeep Hooda and Alia Bhatt’s characters, and he was supposed to treat the actress’ character like a younger sister.
“The dance sequence I did with her received a lot of praise, and I enjoyed shooting it. After the scene, Alia complimented my dancing skills, which was a huge moment for me as I just danced freely without overthinking my moves,” he said.
In the same interview, Durgesh expressed his happiness about landing a role in Imtiaz Ali’s film. He shared that he went to great lengths to prepare for his character, even going without bathing for 26 days and sleep for two days. However, instead of being impressed by his dedication, the director wanted him to be more natural in his performance.
He fondly remembered Ali being patient with him and guiding him to bring a sweet yet comedic touch to his character. Whenever he would perform, the set would be filled with laughter from everyone present.
Durgesh was last seen in Panchayat Season 3 earlier this year.
