Manoj Joshi addresses controversy surrounding Hamare Baarah, clarifying ‘movie not intended to target any religion’
The upcoming film Hamare Baarah, led by Annu Kapoor, has found itself embroiled in controversy. A vacation bench of the Bombay High Court has delayed its theatrical release until June 14, 2024. The film was originally set to release on June 7. Veteran actor Manoj Joshi, who also has an important role in the film, recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing situation.

Speaking to ANI, Manoj Joshi addressed the controversy surrounding the film. He emphasized that the movie is not meant to target any religion. Instead, it highlights the importance of respecting women and touches on various relevant topics that should be watched.
He stated, “I am an artist, and I have worked on this film. Some people have raised objections, but I want to clarify that this film was not made to target any religious group. In our society today, there are discussions about respecting women. Women should not be objectified or disrespected and should be treated with dignity, as is customary in India.”
“Additionally, the film delves into topics such as education, upbringing, employment, women’s empowerment, and population. It is a film that everyone should watch with their families,” he added.

According to a report by Free Press Journal, the film’s release was delayed after a petition filed by Azhar Tambol objected to certain dialogues in the movie’s trailers on social media.
The Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC) confirmed that while the movie had received a certificate, it had no control over the trailers posted on YouTube. The petitioner’s lawyer, Advait Sethna, mentioned that the film underwent scrutiny by an eight-member committee that suggested modifications. After making the necessary changes, the film was given a U/A certification.
However, the court questioned how the petitioner had access to the deleted dialogues and highlighted the CBFC’s lack of jurisdiction over internet-released trailers. As a result, the movie’s release was postponed for a week, and the CBFC was instructed to respond. The hearing on the matter is set for June 10.
