Halsey reveals she experienced a miscarriage on stage during a concert
“I didn’t even know who to talk to,” they continued. “I had no idea what to do. So that was one miscarriage. I had two within the same year. I remember thinking to myself, ‘I’m 20 years old. I should be able to carry a baby.’ I didn’t want to be pregnant. I was way involved in my career. So I had a lot of complex feelings of relief, but also confusion, but also guilt, and also grief.”
Even though Halsey felt unprepared for motherhood during her miscarriages, she shared that the experience prompted her to assess her reproductive health.
Reflecting on that time, she thought, “‘Something must be wrong with me, because of all the times in my life where I should be able to conceive and carry to term, this is the age. What’s happening?’”
Following her miscarriages, Halsey was diagnosed with endometriosis and, with the assistance of Dr. Thais Aliabadi, she was able to conceive her now three-year-old son without any issues.
“With her guidance, I was in such an exceptional position to be able to,” Halsey mentioned about the smooth process of her subsequent pregnancy. “Funnily enough, when I did conceive—I had expected it to take 6-12 months—first try.”
