The actor made his debut on the streaming giant after finding success with Top Gun: Maverick and the beloved rom-com, Anyone But You, alongside Sydney Sweeney. His movie Hit Man, co-starring Adria Arjona from Morbius, has climbed to Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies Chart.
Hit Man enters Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies list
Global Netflix viewers seem to have taken a liking to Powell as the laid-back college instructor and part-time Hit Man Gary Johnson. His clever disguises and captivating personality make people want to hire him as the Hit Man and give him a cash-filled envelope.
However, he questions his morals when Maddy Masters (Arjona) solicits him to kill her abusive husband. Johnson declines the offer and helps her use the cash to start a new life.
After a reality check, Johnson resumes his conning ways until Maddy contacts him, sparking a passionate affair between them. As a Hit Man used to hiding behind various identities, he finds himself in a dilemma after falling for her, contemplating whether to reveal his true self.
Since its June 7 release, Hit Man has been watched 10.8 million times in the first week. Not only did it claim the top spot on Netflix’s most-watched film list, but it was also the most-viewed film in the U.S. and 14 other countries.
Jennifer Lopez’s Atlas drops out of the top slot on Netflix
JLo’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama Atlas was trending on Netflix for the first two weeks after its release. However, Hit-Man took the top spot, pushing Atlas into second place, with 8.9 million views worldwide in its third week.
Ice Age: Collision Course secures the third spot on the Netflix chart, followed by Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs—positive news for the franchise! Lastly, the Dreamworks animated film Home clinched the fifth position.
