Kelly Bishop of Gilmore Girls Responds to Criticism of Rory’s Character Development
Despite that, playing the DAR darling was still enjoyable.
One of her favorite episodes was the “Tennessee Williams episode where Emily discovers a letter from Richard’s mother, written the night before the wedding, pleading with him not to marry Emily,” Kelly remembered. “This event triggers Emily’s unusual behavior, as she spends her days in caftans drinking, which was a departure from her typical character. It was a lot of fun to portray. Amy always found ways to give me engaging and enjoyable scenes to do.”
As she releases her memoir, Kelly hopes to be recognized for one thing above all.
“I would like to be remembered as a working actor, constantly appearing in various projects,” she reflected. “Not a star, not a celebrity, just a consistent working actor. That’s the goal I have achieved.”
The Third Gilmore Girl: A Memoir by Kelly Bishop is out Sept. 17.
