On Genelia Deshmukh’s Birthday: When the Actress Shared How Imran Khan Was Initially Comfortable with Another Co-Star in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na
Genelia Deshmukh’s birthday falls on August 5th, making it a perfect time to reminisce about her role in the iconic movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Despite being released over 16 years ago, the film still holds a special place in the hearts of viewers. Interestingly, Genelia had to compete with another actress for the lead role.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Genelia shared that there was another actress considered for the role of Aditi opposite Imran Khan’s character, Jai Singh Rathore. Genelia recalled, “I remember Imran telling me that he was more comfortable with the other girl than with me.” However, things took a turn after their screen test together, and Imran felt Genelia was the perfect fit for the role.
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, released in 2008, quickly became a beloved romantic comedy. Directed by Abbas Tyrewala, the film beautifully captured themes of friendship, heartbreak, and romance, changing the lives of all those involved, including Genelia.
Since her debut in JTYJN, Genelia has starred in successful films across multiple languages. Personally, she tied the knot with co-star Riteish Deshmukh in 2012, following traditional Hindu and Christian ceremonies. The couple is blessed with two sons, Riaan and Rahyl.
Both Genelia and Riteish made their debut together in 2003 and were last seen in the 2022 film Ved, which received both commercial and critical acclaim.
