Gayle King Reveals Too Much Information About Oprah’s Recent Hospital Stay
Gayle King is sharing the news of her best friend’s recent illness.
The CBS Mornings anchor disclosed that Oprah Winfrey had to cancel her appearance on the morning show on June 11. She was supposed to discuss her latest pick for Oprah’s Book Club, David Wroblewski‘s Familiaris, after falling ill with the stomach flu. Gayle didn’t hold back on giving all the details.
“She had some kind of stomach thing, stomach flu,” the 69-year-old shared, according to TMZ. “Stuff was coming out of both ends. I won’t get too graphic.”
Gayle mentioned that Oprah’s stomach bug was severe enough to land her in the hospital and cause dehydration.
She noted that the founder of OWN “had to get an IV,” describing the illness as “a very serious thing.”
Fortunately, Oprah is recovering well, as a spokesperson for the 70-year-old shared in a statement on June 11, “Ms. Winfrey is recovering following a stomach virus and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor. She is resting and feeling better every day.”
Despite the health update, Gayle and Oprah have shown over the years that nothing—not even sharing too much information about each other’s health—can break their incredibly strong bond.
