Mother of Gabby Petito Forgives Brian Laundrie’s Mother, but Not Brian himself
The contents of a letter from Brian’s mother were made public in 2023 as part of a civil lawsuit filed by Gabby’s parents against the Laundries a year earlier. According to the affidavit obtained by CNN, Roberta mentioned that the note was written before the couple’s 2021 road trip and was intended to reach out to their son during a difficult period in their relationship.
The lawsuit, which was settled out of court earlier this year, alleged that Brian’s parents knew Gabby was deceased weeks before her body was found. The filing, obtained by E! News, stated that while Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt were looking for information about their daughter, Christopher Laundrie and Roberta Laundrie kept Brian’s whereabouts secret and were possibly planning for him to leave the country.
The Laundries’ lawyer responded to the allegations in a statement to E! News, stating that even if the claims in the lawsuit were true, which they deny, the Laundries were not obligated to communicate with law enforcement or the Petito family.
