Gabby Petito urges Brian Laundrie in Recently Revealed Letter
During the search for Petito, Laundrie, who was considered a person of interest in the case, vanished. Weeks later, the 23-year-old’s remains were discovered in a Florida park along with a nearby notebook confessing to Petito’s murder.
Since Petito’s passing, her mother Nichole Schmidt has shared her journey of grief, even expressing forgiveness towards her daughter’s killer.
“Speaking for myself, Brian, I forgive you,” Schmidt stated at CrimeCon 2024 on May 31. “I needed to let go of anger and bitterness and not allow your despicable actions to control the rest of my life.”
However, Schmidt also directed harsh criticism towards Laundrie’s mother, Roberta Laundrie. Following Petito’s death, the Petito family accused the Laundrie family of aiding their son in covering up the murder in a resolved civil lawsuit. Roberta and her husband Christopher Laundrie denied these allegations.
“As for you, Roberta, I address you directly as the mastermind who destroyed both your family and mine with your malicious actions,” Schmidt concluded. “I see no empathy in your eyes.”
