Former Full House Star David Lipper Shares Story of Being Cast in Classic 1987 Sitcom Following Failed Pilot Release
David Lipper’s journey to being cast in the show Full House in 1987 was a unique experience. In a recent interview on the How Rude Tanneritos podcast, the actor shared that Warner Bros. approached him for the sitcom after another show he was working on did not air on the network.
Lipper joined Full House during its final season. Before that, he had filmed a pilot for a show called The Secret Life of Harry Green, later renamed Reality Check. The show also featured Hilary Swank and Kaley Cuoco as lead actors.
During a conversation with Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber on their podcast, Lipper revealed that Warner Bros. producers were fans of his work and wanted to cast him in one of their shows after his previous show was not picked up.
Lipper recounted, “The president of Warner Bros. Television at the time said to me, ‘We’re fans. I’m a fan. We’re going to put you on another show.’ And that’s how I ended up on Full House.”

Additionally, Lipper discussed the unaired pilot and shared details about the shelved show that included talented actors like Giovanni Ribisi, Hilary Swank, Tiffani Thiessen, and Kaley Cuoco.
Reality Check was created by the FRIENDS producers Kevin Bright, Martha Kauffman, and David Crane. Despite having strong content and good test scores, the show did not receive the same success as FRIENDS.
David Lipper portrayed the character of Viper on Full House, while Reality Check can now be streamed on YouTube in three parts.
