Release Dates Announced for Freaky Friday Sequel and Lilo & Stitch Live Action Films – Here’s What You Need to Know
Exciting news from Disney Banner as two highly anticipated sequels, Freakier Friday and the live-action Lilo & Stitch, have confirmed release dates in 2025. The announcements were made at the D23 Expo, with Freakier Friday set for August 8, 2025, and Lilo & Stitch Live Action for May 23, 2025.
Returning to Freakier Friday after two decades are Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, starring in the sequel to the original hit comedy. The film is set to compete with an untitled movie directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Joining Curtis and Lohan in the sequels are original cast members Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Michell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. Media reports suggest that production for the films has already been completed.
Freakier Friday picks up years after the events of the 2003 film, with Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) facing new challenges as their families merge. The official plot description teases a multigenerational twist and hints at new conflicts and adventures.
On the other hand, the live-action Lilo & Stitch will feature Chris Sanders returning as the voice of Stitch and Sydney Agusong portraying Lilo. The cast also includes Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, and Tia Carrere. The film is produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Ryan Halprin as the executive producer.
