Vontae Davis, Former NFL Star, Passes Away at Age 35
The sports community is grieving the loss of a prominent football star.
Vontae Davis, a former NFL cornerback, was discovered deceased at his home in South Florida on April 1, as confirmed by authorities. He was 35.
Although the investigation into Vontae’s passing is ongoing, Davie Police officers stated on April 1 to ESPN that “preliminary information suggests that foul play is not involved.”
The former cornerback starred for the University of Illinois in college before being drafted in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins. He was later traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, where he played for six seasons.
In 2018, Vontae made headlines by retiring from the Buffalo Bills during halftime of a game against the Los Angeles Chargers, stating that his decision was made out of respect for his teammates and coaches. Despite being only two games into the season with the New York team, Vontae was compelled to retire due to “multiple” surgeries and injuries.
