Fat Joe is sharing his journey of losing weight.
The rapper known as Joseph Antonio Cartagena recently explained how Ozempic, a medication he uses for his type 2 diabetes, helps him maintain the 200 pounds he has lost.
Praising the drug for its ability to control appetite, Joe jokingly told US Weekly on Oct. 10, “Ozempic says you can only have two pieces of your favorite foods.”
However, Joe is not solely relying on the medication for weight management. He also discussed making changes to his diet.
“We try to consume foods with minimum carbs,” Joe said. “So we avoid bread, pasta, and rice as much as possible. That’s the most sensible way to eat.”
The 54-year-old father of Joey, 33, Ryan, 27, and Azariah, 18 (the youngest with wife Lorena Cartagena), stressed the importance of moderation in his diet.
“Today for breakfast, I had toast—I cut off a piece, ate it, and moved on,” he shared. “Normally, I would have eaten the whole slice. But now, we focus on cutting carbs and making smarter choices.”
