Director S Shankar provides exclusive clarification on the status of Sivaji 2, Nayak 2, and Aparichit 2 production
S Shankar is one of India’s most beloved directors, known for iconic movies like Indian, Sivaji, Robot, Aparichit, and more. His films have been widely accepted throughout India, starting with Indian (Hindustani in Hindi), and now he is preparing for the release of the sequel Indian 2 (Hindustani 2 in Hindi), produced by Lyca Productions, slated to release on 12th July 2024.
S Shankar recently shared an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, where he discussed his passion for movies and gave updates on potential sequels for Sivaji, Nayak, and Aparichit.
Director S Shankar Clarifies Sequel Plans
During the Pinkvilla Masterclass interview, S Shankar addressed rumors about sequels to his popular films. He mentioned that while there is interest in films like Aparichit 2, Sivaji 2, and Nayak 2 from audiences and himself, he emphasized the importance of a compelling story before committing to a sequel.
“The subject needs to resonate with me and evolve organically. If the right idea strikes me, I will definitely consider it. As of now, I don’t have any concrete plans for a sequel,” he stated.

S Shankar’s Upcoming Projects
S Shankar is currently focused on promoting Hindustani 2. Following the release, he plans to complete shooting for Hindustani 3 and Game Changer, with post-production work and release schedules to follow. Fans can expect Hindustani 3 to hit theaters within six months of Hindustani 2, while Game Changer may aim for a summer 2025 release.
S Shankar’s Future Film Plans
In the Pinkvilla Masterclass, S Shankar expressed interest in exploring disaster-genre and James Bond-style films for his future projects.
