Emraan Hashmi reflects on uncle Mahesh Bhatt revealing industry’s dark realities during his son’s cancer battle
In 2014, Emraan Hashmi’s son Ayaan Hashmi was diagnosed with cancer, which shook up the actor’s world. In a recent appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, the Jannat actor recalled that he had four films to wrap up alongside his priority of looking after his son during those tough times.
When Mahesh Bhatt warned Emraan Hashmi about showbiz’s probable move against him
The 45-year-old actor remembered his uncle telling him that while people in the industry may be supportive of his personal setback, it wouldn’t take much time for them to turn against him due to the business aspect. Emraan shared, “Bhatt saab called me after the operation. He said that the industry is such that people are supporting you, but the ugly truth is that there is a business here. Producers might be lenient now but…”

Emraan emphasized that his intention was never to waste anyone’s money. Despite facing this personal crisis, he had already started four films and was committed to completing them. The Murder actor informed his producers that he would return from Canada in a month after his son’s treatment to finish the remaining work.
“….which was very tough for me. I came back and shot for four months here and then I went back and met him,” Emraan added.

In the same interview, the Showtime actor shared that after Ayaan went into remission in 2016, his mother Maherahh Hashmi was diagnosed with cancer. Emraan was shooting for Raaz Reboot when he received the news and immediately flew to be with his mother. Sadly, he found out on the way that she had passed away while being shifted to the ICU.
“It was very difficult because it was an 18-hour flight and I got to know just before boarding…. It was very unfortunate,” Emraan said. Maherahh Hashmi fought cancer for about six months before passing away on March 11, 2016.
