Eugene And Dan Levy’s Father-Son Duo To Host The 2024 Emmy Awards
The 2024 Emmy Awards, scheduled for September 15th, are shaping up to be an exciting event. This year, the hosts will be the unique pairing of Eugene Levy and his son Dan Levy, marking a historic moment where a father and son co-host a prestigious event.
77-year-old Eugene Levy and his 41-year-old son Dan Levy are well-known for their roles in the popular comedy series Schitt’s Creek, which has earned them iconic status in television. From 2015 to 2020, when the show aired its final season, both Eugene Levy and Dan Levy received Emmys for their work on Schitt’s Creek. Eugene received two Emmy Awards for his work on Schitt’s Creek and two more from SCTV Network 90, while Dan won all four of his Emmys for writing, directing, acting as a supporting actor, and creating the main concept for Schitt’s Creek.
In a statement released on August 16, Eugene and Dan expressed their excitement about hosting the Emmys. They highlighted their unique experience of winning Emmys in a quarantine tent during the pandemic and their anticipation of hosting the awards in a real theater this year. They stated, “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all.”
The 2024 Emmys will be broadcast live on ABC from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles, promising a great year with Eugene and Dan Levy bringing their charm and humor to the stage. They are expected to bring a father-son dynamic that will make this event stand out.
The nominations for the 76th annual Primetime Emmys were announced in July, with standout shows and performances. Leading the nominations are The Bear and Shōgun. The Bear has set a record with the most nominations, surpassing 30 Rock, while Shōgun becomes the first Japanese-language series to be nominated for an outstanding drama series.
In the comedy category, The Bear competes against other popular series such as Abbott Elementary, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, Palm Royale, Reservation Dogs, and What We Do in the Shadows. Shōgun faces tough competition in the drama category from series like The Crown, Fallout, The Gilded Age, The Morning Show, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Slow Horses, and 3 Body Problem.
Individual actors receiving nominations include Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri for The Bear, and Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada for Shōgun. Other notable nominees include actors from The Gilded Age, Hacks, Palm Royale, and more.
Aside from major categories, limited series nominees include Baby Reindeer, Fargo, Lessons in Chemistry, Ripley, True Detective, and Night Country. In the TV movie category, nominees include Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, Quiz Lady, Red, White & Royal Blue, Scoop, and Unfrosted.
Reality show fans can look forward to The Amazing Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Top Chef, The Traitors, and The Voice competing for outstanding reality competition programs.
Members of the Television Academy will select the winners of the 2024 Emmy Awards, with final voting closing on August 26. The Creative Arts Emmys, where many awards will be presented, are scheduled for September 7 and 8.
