The legendary director, known for inspiring generations of actors and filmmakers with his iconic works like Jaws, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Maestro, and The Color Purple, is reportedly developing a UFO film at Universal and Amblin. He is keen on casting Emily Blunt as one of the lead roles, with David Koepp penning the script and Kristie Macosko Krieger producing it. The plot details are currently under wraps, and this film will mark Spielberg’s summer box office release after a long hiatus!

Rumors suggest that Spielberg has been a fan of Emily Blunt for a while, dating back to her role in The Girl on the Train and more recently in The Fall Guy. In an interview with Collider, Blunt mentioned that Spielberg loved The Fall Guy. Starring in a Spielberg film will add another esteemed director to her list of collaborations, which already includes Nolan, Villeneuve, Marshall, Liman, and Johnson.
The Devil Wears Prada actress is currently filming A24’s Mark Kerr biography, The Smashing Machine, directed by Benny Safdie, her ‘Oppen-homie,’ alongside Dwayne Johnson.
