Elliot Page and Other Transgender Stars Who Have Openly Shared Their Personal Journeys
After silently struggling with gender dysphoria for years, the Juno alum publicly came out as transgender in December 2020. In a statement on social media, he expressed, “My joy is real, but it is also fragile. The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and acknowledging the privileges I have, I also feel fear. I fear the invasion of privacy, the hate, the ‘jokes,’ and violence.”
He went on to say, “To all trans individuals facing harassment, self-hatred, abuse, and the constant threat of violence: I see you, I love you, and I will work tirelessly to make this world a better place.”
Remaining true to his promise, Elliot has continued to share his journey, including his recovery from top surgery. In May, he shared a shirtless selfie and wrote, “Dysphoria used to be most intense during the summer. Now, I can bask in the sun without feeling self-conscious, just enjoying the joy in my body that I never thought possible.”
The Umbrella Academy actor also chronicled his transition in his 2023 memoir, Pageboy.
