Keltie Knight of E! News Reveals She Will be Having a Hysterectomy
Going through a hysterectomy is a big step for me!
For the better part of the last ten years, I’ve been silently enduring health issues. Like many women, I convinced myself that these debilitating issues were somehow my own fault. I thought I could feel better by eating more salads, finding a better work-life balance, or spending less time in front of screens and more time meditating.
I have a stubborn type of blood disorder known as microcytic anemia. A healthy ferritin level usually falls between 120 to 200, but mine is as low as five. In simple terms, I have fewer and smaller blood cells compared to an average person, leading to lower oxygen transportation to my tissues and causing disruptions in my body’s functions.
I’ve explored various treatments from both eastern and western medicine, including acupuncture, iron infusions, hormone therapy, and guidance from a nutritionist. The final option to preserve as much of my healthy, oxygen-rich blood as possible is to undergo a hysterectomy to remove my uterus.
