Drake Bell Recalls the Manipulative Tactics Used by Brian Peck
Bell recounted Peck’s deliberate actions to drive a wedge between him and his father, Joe Bell, who also appeared in the ID series and corroborated his son’s story. This was done so Peck could spend more time with the teen, who had a recurring role on The Amanda Show before landing his own sitcom, Drake & Josh, in 2004.
Bell shared how Peck would accompany him to auditions and then insist he stay overnight, claiming it was too late to drive him home. One night, Bell woke up on the couch (where he always slept) to find Peck sexually assaulting him.
“I was paralyzed with shock and had no idea how to react,” Bell recalled. “I felt trapped in the situation.”
Despite Peck’s apologies, the abuse continued, and Bell kept silent, fearing it would ruin his career. It wasn’t until his then-girlfriend’s mother noticed something was amiss and took him to a therapist that Bell spoke up.
After confiding in his mother, police were called in, and Bell was required to provide a detailed account of the abuse. Detectives listened in as he confronted Peck over the phone, leading to a full confession from Peck and his subsequent arrest on Aug. 20, 2003.
