The beloved children’s character Dog Man is set to star in his own feature film, scheduled to hit theaters in early 2025. Leading up to the movie’s release, Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have unveiled a new trailer to give fans a sneak peek.
Dog Man, a 2016 movie based on the popular book series by Dav Pilkey, the creator of Captain Underpants, follows the adventures of a loyal police dog and his human partner. Pete Davidson, Billy Boyd, Ricky Gervais, Isla Fisher, Poppy Liu, Stephen Root, and Lil Rel Howery are among the voice actors for the film.

This film is the latest project from DreamWorks, the studio behind successful franchises like How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda. The animation in the movie closely mirrors the visual style of the original books, with some enhancements to give the characters a more three-dimensional look.
According to the official synopsis, Dog Man emerges after a life-saving but unconventional surgery brings together a dedicated police dog and his injured human partner. Dog Man is committed to serving and protecting, as well as performing tricks and obeying commands. Alongside striving to impress his Chief (Lil Rel Howery) and embrace his new identity, Dog Man must thwart the devious plans of villainous feline Petey the Cat (Pete Davidson). Petey’s latest scheme involves creating a clone named Lil Petey to aid in his criminal endeavors. However, things take an unexpected turn when Lil Petey forms a bond with Dog Man.
The unlikely pair of Dog Man and Petey must team up to rescue Lil Petey from a common adversary in a thrilling race against time. As they work together, they discover that even the most bitter enemies can find unity through the power of family (and cats!).
The Dog Man book series made its debut in 2016 and has since sold over 60 million copies worldwide, with 12 installments currently available. The next installment, Dog Man: Big Jim Begins, is set to be released on December 3rd.
