Disney Officially Announces Frozen 3 Release Date for 2027 Along with Logo and Concept Art Revealed at D23 Expo
Disney’s Frozen 3 is set to be released in 2027, aiming to address some unanswered questions from the successful movie series.
During the D23 expo, Disney Animation’s announcements were closed by Jennifer Lee with an exciting surprise. The new visual development art for the upcoming musical, Frozen 3, was revealed. Lee, Disney’s chief creative officer, shared the latest visual development art created by Britney Lee, featuring Elsa riding a white horse and Anna sitting on a brown stag.
Disney D23 announced on social media, stating, “Is there a chill in the air…? Jennifer Lee announces at #D23 that #Frozen3 will be coming to theaters in 2027!”
With original Frozen creator Jennifer Lee leading Disney Animation, more exciting stories from Arendelle are sure to come. Lee co-wrote the first two Frozen movies, which brought her an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The first film in the franchise was released a decade ago.
Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale The Snow Queen, the first Frozen movie premiered in 2013. The film became a sensation with its iconic voice cast and grossed 1.28 billion USD globally, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time at that point.
The remarkable soundtrack, featuring songs like Do You Want To Build A Snowman? and Let It Go, sold over 4.1 million copies and had been streamed more than 51 million times by June 2016.
Frozen 2, released in 2019, earned 1.45 billion USD worldwide, surpassing its predecessor and becoming one of the highest-grossing movies in history. It introduced new magical elements, locations, and characters to the enchanting world of Arendelle.
Frozen 3 is expected to hit theaters in 2027, continuing the pop cultural phenomenon that this animated series has become.
