Gossip Girl casting director David Rapaport shared insights on the Gossip Girl spinoff focusing on Serena’s mother, Lily van der Woodsen, which featured a pilot with Brittany Snow and Krysten Ritter. He reminisced about the audition process, mentioning how actresses like Dakota Johnson and Rooney Mara, who are now prominent figures, had tried out for the role.
Speaking to host Jessica Szohr, Rapaport revealed, “One of the most impressive auditions I witnessed was from Nina Dobrev, who I believe you’re friends with, and it was for that specific role.”
Rapaport informed the network that Dobrev was a potential star in the making, despite not matching the original character description. He emphasized the need to keep an eye on her and find a suitable project, expressing his fear of missing out on her talent in the future.
