Silambarasan TR and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were once set to star together in a movie!
Kabilan Vairamuthu, the lyricist who recently wrote a song for Thalapathy Vijay’s The GOAT, shared details about a shelved project he was involved in. In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, he mentioned that the late KV Anand was supposed to direct a film starring Silambarasan TR and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Kabilan revealed that KV Anand had plans for four more films, including a gangster movie with STR and Aishwarya as leads. However, this project was later shelved.
Did you know Silambarasan TR and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were supposed to work together?
In the same interview, Kabilan Vairamuthu discussed how initial talks for the gangster film began, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie’s production was halted. Unfortunately, the director’s untimely death led to the project being shelved.
For those unfamiliar, KV Anand was a renowned cinematographer-turned-director who passed away in 2021 after a cardiac arrest. He was known for movies like Ayan, Ko, Kaappaan, and more. Before transitioning to directing, he also worked as a cinematographer on films like Thenmavin Kombath, Kadhal Desam, Mudhalvan, Sivaji: The Boss, and others.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s most recent project
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in the Tamil movie Ponniyin Selvan: II, directed by Mani Ratnam, which was released in 2023. The historical film was based on a novel written by Kalki Krishnamurthy.
The movie was a sequel to Ponniyin Selvan: I and featured an ensemble cast including Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, and more.
Silambarasan TR’s upcoming projects
Silambarasan TR is currently filming for the movie Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam. The film is a gangster action flick and marks the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam.
Furthermore, Silambarasan TR will also lead in a period film tentatively titled STR 48.
