Were Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil once in the running for the lead roles in a Malayalam gangster drama film?
Two talented actors in Indian cinema, Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil, were once considered for lead roles in a gangster drama movie that never came to fruition.
The director, Aneesh Anwar, had planned a project called Gangs of Bandadukka, based on real-life characters spanning generations from 1979-2019. The film was to be heavy on action and narrative-driven.
The project was backed after the success of Angamaly Diaries, with producer Vijay Babu praising the screenplay as one of the best action scripts he had read.
Due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie was ultimately shelved, despite initial plans to cast newcomers to avoid conflicts with existing fan bases.
Both actors continue to have promising projects in their pipeline. Dulquer Salmaan will be seen in Lucky Baskhar, a drama thriller set in the 1980s, while Fahadh Faasil has key roles in upcoming films like Vettaiyan and Pushpa 2: The Rule.
