Washington actively supports women filmmakers through the Through Her Lens program, serving on the advisory committee and hosting events alongside industry professionals like director Patty Jenkins and composer Laura Karpman.
Through Her Lens backs emerging women and non-binary filmmakers in the US by providing support, artistic development, and funding. The program, now in its ninth year, holds a three-day workshop each fall for finalists to work on their short film projects.
About 23 years ago, Rosenthal, along with Robert De Niro and Craig Hatkoff, founded the Tribeca Film Festival as a meaningful response to the September 11, 2001, attacks. This year, they are planning a special convention to honor De Niro’s remarkable career.
The convention, known as De Niro Con, will take place in New York City from June 14 to 16 and will include screenings, panels, and exhibits to celebrate the screen legend. Additionally, mark your calendars for the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival happening from June 5 to 16.
