Kim Kardashian reportedly requested for Netflix to edit out the boos during Tom Brady’s roast, claims VP.
Netflix had a strategy in place for Tom Brady‘s roast.
The streaming platform’s vice president of stand-up and comedy formats, Robbie Praw, discussed the decision to eliminate booing during Kim Kardashian‘s segment on The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on May 9, Robbie explained, “Post edits are a normal practice for comedy specials and are done in live broadcasts, whether it’s adding or removing content that can’t be done during a live stream.”
During the broadcast on May 5 from The Kia Forum, the audience reacted with boos before Kim could complete her first joke about Kevin Hart. Eventually, the Ride Along star intervened to calm the crowd for the SKIMS founder.
However, the finalized version on Netflix excludes that moment, stating it was “edited from a previous live stream,” and goes directly into Kim’s first joke.
Robbie acknowledged in the THR interview that these edits can alter the viewing experience, expressing, “It’s actually part of the enjoyment of watching it live to not miss those moments.”
