In an interview with British GQ Magazine, Nava Mau shared that a scene depicting Teri’s life after breaking up with Donny was filmed but didn’t make the final edit. She hinted to UK readers that the scene involved Teri leaving Donny a voicemail five months after their split. Mau suggested this scene might have helped both herself and Teri come to terms with the situation and move forward.
She elaborated further, explaining that while fans may have desired that scene, it wasn’t the true resolution for Teri and Donny as portrayed in the final series. Speaking to ET News, Mau expressed finding satisfaction in Teri walking away, indicating that despite scripts containing more material, the director intended to give Teri a happy ending, which Mau believed was achieved.
Mau shared that filming brought a sense of closure for her. Despite the challenges for Teri in ending things, she believed it was ultimately for the best for both characters.
