James Van Der Beek appeared alongside his 13-year-old daughter, Olivia, as she made her television debut on the season finale of the singing game show We Are Family on February 28. The show, which started in January, showcases performances by family members of celebrities who are later revealed to the audience.
Olivia, the oldest child of Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly Van Der Beek, sang country singer Lee Ann Womack‘s 2000 hit “I Hope You Dance” before her father surprised everyone by revealing himself after appearing behind a barrier.
Excited to share the stage with her father, Olivia expressed her admiration for him, stating, “He’s always busy but makes time to be with his kids as much as possible, which I really admire. He’s amazing.”
The following day, James posted a behind-the-scenes video of their experience, reflecting on his early career days in the early ’90s.
