Dakota Fanning faced uncomfortable questions as a child star.
Dakota Fanning shares her experience dealing with inappropriate questions as a child star.
Dakota Fanning reflects on her time as a young actress, starting her career at only 6 years old. She recently talked about the challenges she faced growing up in the entertainment industry, revealing that journalists often crossed boundaries during interviews.
“I remember journalists asking me, ‘How are you avoiding becoming a tabloid girl?’ People would ask super-inappropriate questions,” she told The Cut in a cover story published on Oct. 1. “I was in an interview as a child and somebody asked, ‘How could you possibly have any friends?’ It’s like, huh?”
The Perfect Couple actress, who has a sister, Elle Fanning, also a former child star, empathized with other celebrities who grew up in the limelight and faced challenges in their careers or personal lives.
Dakota, known for her role in 2001’s I Am Sam alongside Sean Penn, expressed her compassion for those who have been scrutinized unfairly by society and the media. She pondered, “If society and the media hadn’t played their part, who knows where they would be?”
