Abby and Brittany Understand the Curiosity—To a Point
Abby and Brittany have acknowledged the curiosity surrounding their lives. However, they have expressed frustration regarding the public’s reaction, especially when people take their photo without permission.
“We absolutely despise it when people take pictures of us,” Abby stated in 2007. “We will strongly object and embarrass them.”
During their childhood, doctors were interested in their health and development, but Mike and Patty Hensel prohibited any unnecessary tests on their daughters. Brittany and Abby also mentioned that they disliked going to the doctor’s office at that time.
“While they are unique, the family wishes to treat them like ordinary individuals,” stated the family’s doctor Joy Westerdahl in 2007. “I respect the family’s preference not to get overly involved.”
