Abby and Brittany Understand the Curiosity—To a Point
Abby and Brittany have always been aware of the curiosity surrounding their lives. However, they have expressed frustration at the way people sometimes react when they see them in public, especially when photos are taken without permission.
“We absolutely hate when people take pictures of us,” Abby stated in 2007. “And we will throw a fit about it, and make them embarrassed.”
While doctors were curious about their health and development as children, Mike and Patty Hensel made sure that no unnecessary tests were conducted on their daughters. Brittany and Abby also mentioned that they disliked visiting the doctor’s office at the time.
“Although they are unique, the Hensel family wants them to be treated just like anyone else,” said the family’s doctor Joy Westerdahl in 2007. “I need to respect the family’s wishes and not become too involved.”
