Update on the Past Doctors of Grey’s Anatomy
T.R. Knight portrayed the character George O’Malley on the show.
In a heartbreaking moment at the end of season five, George’s character met a tragic end. He had decided to join the army as a trauma surgeon and was on his way to enlist when he heroically saved a woman from a bus accident but got hit himself. Severely injured, he was unrecognizable until he wrote his nickname, 007, on Meredith’s hand. Despite efforts to save him, George sadly passed away.
Behind the scenes, Knight faced challenges, including conflicts with co-stars and dissatisfaction with his character’s storyline. This led to his request to be released from his contract.
After departing from Grey’s Anatomy, Knight made a return to Shondaland in 2017 for a role in The Catch. He has also been seen in The Good Wife, 11.22.63, and Genius, among other projects. In more recent years, he appeared in The Bravest Knight in 2019 and in The Flight Attendant on HBO Max in 2020 alongside Kaley Cuoco. He surprised fans with a special appearance on Grey’s Anatomy during Meredith’s COVID-19-induced coma.
