She simply wanted to swim around and indulge in some treats.
“Charlotte is thriving and loves engaging with visitors and the divers,” the aquarium shared in an April 27 post, assuring that their monitoring of Charlotte was ongoing. “Her preferred treats this week were scallops and silversides. We appreciate your patience and kindness during Charlotte’s journey.”
Just when things seemed a bit dubious, the owner of the organization, Brenda Ramer, verified to WLOS News 13 that the ray was indeed not expecting.
During a May interview, Ramer disclosed to the Asheville-based outlet that Charlotte has a reproductive disease, with veterinarians diagnosing the ray with diapause, stating, “We’re still trying to grasp many of these terms ourselves.”
They did not pay heed to the social media chatter insinuating that the entire incident was fabricated for publicity.
“I can’t control people’s perceptions,” she continued, later emphasizing, “I can only share what we know with certainty. I have never lied. This was not a hoax. This was not a fabricated story, but people tend to do that. People have their own opinions.”
