Aquarium Owner Confirms Charlotte the Stingray is Not Expecting
After months of speculation, fans following the mystery of Charlotte the stingray are finally receiving some answers.
Three and a half months since the Aquarium & Shark Lab by Team ECCO in Hendersonville, N.C., announced Charlotte’s pregnancy, the organization’s owner Brenda Ramer has confirmed to WLOS News 13 that the ray is not actually expecting.
In an interview published on May 31, Ramer informed the Asheville-based outlet that Charlotte is suffering from a reproductive disease and has been diagnosed with diapause, stating, “We’re still trying to understand a lot of these terms ourselves.”
Addressing criticisms from social media users who questioned the pregnancy announcement and accused the aquarium of seeking attention, Ramer responded, “I can’t control what people think. I can only share what we know for certain. I’ve never been dishonest. This was not a hoax. This was not fabricated, but people speculate. People have their own opinions.”
