Chappell Roan Demands Apology from Photographer in Tense Encounter at Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour Movie Premiere; Here’s the Scoop
Chappell Roan recently found herself in a heated altercation with a photographer who had been disrespectful to her at the Grammys. While attending the premiere of Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour on October 25th at NYA Studios EAST in Los Angeles, Roan demanded an apology upon seeing the same photographer on the red carpet.
Roan jokingly asked the photographer to account for his rude behavior at a previous Grammy event, which had led to a confrontation between the two. Roan stated that the photographer had yelled at her at the Grammys, describing his actions as disrespectful and insisting on an apology.
In a video that went viral, Roan could be heard saying, “You yelled at me at the Grammy party. Yes, I remember. You were so rude to me. And I deserve an apology for that. You need to apologize to me.” It is unclear whether Roan received the apology she sought, but one of her staff members appeared to intervene and defuse the situation before the clip ended.
Following these negative red carpet encounters, the singer of “Good Luck, Babe” has spoken in various interviews about the importance of setting boundaries between herself and intrusive fans or paparazzi. At the pre-show of the MTV VMAs 2024, where she was a nominee at the UBS Arena in Long Island, a photographer reportedly hurled a swear word at Roan.
In response, Roan called out the abusive individual and then composed herself to express that such discriminatory behavior towards her was unacceptable.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about the incident, she shared, “This is quite overwhelming and quite scary. I think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you, the carpet is horrifying. And I yelled back. I yelled back! You don’t get to yell at me like that.”
Following this incident, Roan decided to prioritize her mental well-being and informed her fans that she would be withdrawing from her two scheduled performances at the All Things Go music festival. She humbly apologized to her fans for the cancellations and explained how the rapid rise to fame had become overwhelming.
Prioritizing her mental health, Chappell Roan emphasized the importance of being in the right headspace to deliver more spectacular performances in the future. The singer of “Red Wine Supernova” reassured her fans that she would return soon and thanked them for their patience and understanding during this challenging period.
