Chandu Champion: Kartik Aaryan speaks out on the controversy surrounding Bollywood stars’ entourage costs; suggests taking a cut if the numbers don’t make sense

Kartik Aaryan views it as a constructive discussion
Kartik Aaryan, currently busy with Chandu Champion’s promotions, discussed the rising star costs during an interaction with PTI. He emphasized that if the final math makes sense, then it is justified.
The actor explained that when a film is released, various rights related to it are put up for sale, including the star’s value. He stated that if the project’s overall value, including the star value, generates profit for the team, then the calculations add up. “If not, adjustments need to be made. It’s a healthy discussion,” he remarked.
Director Kabir Khan, part of the conversation, mentioned the positive response from actors, directors, and producers regarding the ongoing debate. As audience viewing habits shifted after the lockdown, discussions on exploring alternative revenue streams have ensued.
He noted that OTT platforms now play a significant role in revenue generation. However, if adequate recovery does not occur, producers may consider budget control. Kartik emphasized his commitment to his films, ensuring that financial aspects align.

Chandu Champion is an upcoming biographical sports drama based on India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. Directed by Kabir Khan, it marks his first collaboration with Kartik Aaryan.
The film’s trailer premiered last month in Gwalior, Kartik’s hometown. It is set for release on June 14, 2024.
Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming projects
Following Chandu Champion, Kartik will star in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the third installment of a successful horror comedy franchise. He also has projects like Vishal Bharadwaj’s Arjan Ustara, an untitled romantic film with Triptii, the sequel of Pati Patni Aur Woh, and a Sandeep Modi directorial with Karan Johar lined up.
Pinkvilla first reported that Kartik is in discussions with Sooraj Barjatya to play Prem in his next film.
