During his time on One Tree Hill, Chad Michael Murray struggled with agoraphobia.
While Chad Michael Murray was experiencing a significant moment in his career, he was silently struggling with his mental health.
During his time as the popular character Lucas Scott on One Tree Hill, the actor began facing agoraphobia, a type of anxiety that involves fear of certain places or situations that may induce stress.
“I was about 23 years old and had an event in Miami,” he shared in an interview with The Cut published on May 21. “However, I couldn’t bring myself to leave my hotel room.”
“I felt like the walls were closing in on me,” Chad continued. “I was experiencing anxiety attacks.”
Two years later, on his 25th birthday, the actor from A Cinderella Story made a decision to change his life.
“I woke up feeling uneasy,” he recalled. “I wasn’t satisfied with the path my life was taking.”
“I attended church,” Chad mentioned, “and also started therapy. Additionally, I decided to get a tattoo of a cross on my left wrist as a symbol of my commitment to moving forward in faith.”
