Tearful Documentary Shows Céline Dion’s Harrowing Health Crisis
Dion recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with a rare progressive neurological disorder known as stiff-person syndrome, a condition unfamiliar to many.
In an Instagram video, Dion expressed, “I’ve always been transparent about my life. It was difficult for me to share this news before, but I feel ready now. I’ve been facing health challenges for quite some time, and discussing my struggles has not been easy.”
The disorder caused muscle spasms that greatly impacted her daily life, hindering her ability to walk and ultimately preventing her from embarking on her planned tour.
“I’m diligently working with my sports medicine therapist every day to regain my strength and performance capabilities,” Dion stated. “However, I must acknowledge that it has been a challenging journey.”
According to the National Institutes of Health, symptoms of stiff-person syndrome include stiffness in the muscles of the torso, arms, and legs, heightened sensitivity to noise, touch, and emotional stress, all of which can trigger muscle spasms.
