Rocky star Carl Weathers dies aged 76
Carl Weathers has died aged 76.
The actor – who starred as Apollo Creed in the ‘Rocky’ film franchise – died “peacefully in his sleep” on Thursday (02.01.24).
In a statement, his family said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers. He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024.”
Weathers played college football at San Diego State University in the 1960s and he eventually signed with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League. However, after retiring from the sport in 1974, he decided to pursue a career in acting.
Roc Nation ‘pull out of hosting their annual pre-Grammys brunch party’
Jay-Z and his Roc Nation record label will reportedly not be hosting their annual pre-Grammy brunch party this year. The 54-year-old rap titan’s company has been holding the exclusive bash since 2011, with the event making a comeback in 2023 after taking a two-year break amid the Covid pandemic.
But a source has now told Page Six the tradition will not be continued on Saturday (03.02.24), ahead of the Grammys on Sunday. No specifics were given by the insider, but the insider added “the power duo will still be on the party scene”.

Taylor Swift could end up paying $3 million for a private suite to watch her boyfriend in the Super Bowl. The ‘Bad Blood’ singer, 34, is said to be intent on attending the 11 February clash between her 34-year-old partner Travis Kelce’s team the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, but it’s been reported she could still face a struggle landing a prime seat despite her superstar status. Page Six has reported the game is “one of the most coveted tickets in American sports”, meaning “sometimes even players themselves are scrambling to get their loved ones a seat to the championship game”. The outlet said Taylor’s options to see the Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas may include spending a chunk of her $1.1 billion fortune hiring a $3 million suite that seats 32 people.
