Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer Reboot to Star Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, and Jonah Hauer-King
The 1997 hit horror flick is set for a reboot!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the main cast of the film has been confirmed, featuring young talents like Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, and others. The original stars, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt, who returned for the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, are in discussions to reprise their roles in Sony’s revamped version!

Riverdale star Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King are set to join Sony’s reboot of the 1997 horror blockbuster. Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and produced by Neal Moritz, the film will give a contemporary twist to the original. Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson are writing the script.
The original film follows a group of friends connected by a shared traumatic event who reunite to escape a hook-wielding maniac. Their attempts to evade the relentless killer form the crux of the story.
The movie gained cult status in the horror genre, grossing over $125 million globally. Prinze Jr. and Hewitt, stars of the original film, are in talks to make a comeback.

Mendes rose to fame as Veronica in the Netflix show Riverdale. Her filmography includes Dangerous Lies, Palm Springs, and Do Revenge, among others. Recently, she appeared in romantic comedies Upgraded and Música.
Cline stars in the Netflix series Outer Banks and has featured in films like Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Boy Erased. She also has credits in TV shows like Stranger Things and Vice Principals.
Hauer-King portrayed Prince Eric in the live-action Disney film The Little Mermaid and has roles in The Tattooist of Auschwitz and The Flatshare.
Sony Pictures plans to release the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot in theaters on July 18, 2025.
