Camila Cabello Shares the True Explanation Behind Her Departure from Fifth Harmony
Camila Cabello never intended to upset anyone.
Fans around the world were devastated when the “Havana” singer decided to leave Fifth Harmony in 2016, bidding farewell to her time with fellow bandmates Normani, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui. Ultimately, her departure was fueled by her love for songwriting.
“I can recall waking up during tour,” Camila shared during the March 6 episode of Call Her Daddy, “and heading to my hotel room at around 7 a.m. to work on my music in the garage band because I preferred doing it alone, away from everyone else. My passion for writing songs grew, leading me to realize that I wanted to perform these songs on my own.”
She elaborated, “I started distancing myself from the group’s direction, feeling like they were still deeply invested in that path whereas I wasn’t feeling content anymore. It didn’t feel like the right fit for me.”
