Caitlyn Jenner Addresses Criticism Following O.J. Simpson Message
Despite no criminal charges being filed against her, Caitlyn faced numerous lawsuits stemming from a fatal crash. These lawsuits included claims from a third and fourth driver, as well as Kim’s stepchildren. Caitlyn reached settlements with Jessica Steindorff, a driver involved in the incident, in December 2015, and with Kim’s stepchildren in January 2016. The specifics of these settlements were not publicly disclosed.
The public uproar against Caitlyn occurred when she posted a tweet on April 11, stating “Good Riddance” in response to O.J. Simpson’s passing at the age of 76 due to cancer. This tweet caused users to draw comparisons between the deaths resulting from Caitlyn’s car crash and the 1994 murders of Nicole and Ron for which O.J. Simpson was famously involved but acquitted.
O.J. Simpson was later found liable in a civil case brought by the families of Nicole and Ron and was ordered to pay $33.5 million in 1997. In September 2007, O.J. released the controversial book “If I Did It,” in which he speculated about the murders of Nicole and Ron.
